Day 6

Well....... the last day and what a busy one!
We returned to the festival site to say goodbye to Mrs Conteh and her teachers. They were sad to see us go, but we reassured them that our partnership will continue.

We then went to a very beautiful beach with an horrific history. Kent Beach is absolutely stunning, with white sand, rolling sea, sun and palm trees. However, this was where the slaves were taken and kept in the most appalling conditions, before being shipped out - many to Liverpool. It was difficult to imagine such horrors in such a spectacularly beautiful place. We stayed for about half an hour and left.
We visited the handicapped project again and collected the bells they had made us for school. Listen out for some new sounds after half term!

This has been an amazing experience for all staff involved and the warmth of the welcome is incredible. The need is great though and staff and children have been SO grateful for all the support from English Martyrs community. They asked us to send their heartfelt thanks.
It's a long journey home tomorrow - 25 hours in total. we will look forward to seeing Mr D at the airport. Let's hope he remembers! We look forward also to sharing our photos, our learning and our experiences with the children..............................and anyone else who'd care to listen
We are VERY tired as you may notice, but wouldn't have missed meeting and mixing with these wonderful people for anything.
